#3 for 2009

Just want to throw up a thread for maybe a July M & T.
Hopefully no hurricanes this year to dodge.
As already discussed, since it is in the DEAD of Summer heat and they tried the beach thing and it was HOT....and camping is more of a social situation -
We probably need a place to "build"  in A/C.Anybody with access to a HOA - community center   "low $$$"
Anybody work at a yoga or dance studio that we could maybe use to put tables in for the weekend?   Anyone have a really large and air conditioned workshop?    Does your  city library have a large meeting room?  Private School?    Church????  ( oh yeah....that would be most excellent.....lol !  )    Large Room with A/C .     Time to put on some thinkin caps.

Any suggestions?

Also....any suggestions for a real "build" of something that everyone would be interested in ......variations?  Since Camping we didn't build anything.
Also I guess it should be "inside"  conducive type of build.  Can't be making toe pincher's with a table saw.   Grin

Don't mean to single out and put one persons on the "spot",  But hey HauntedHeadquarters......what is your building situation?     Wink Wink Wink
Ever thought of hosting a Florida Haunter's M & T?
Perhaps you might even have a good idea in a build that you could lead us.    Hey, Hey.....good publicity for you and the Fl. Haunter's.... Wink Wink

Does Home Depots or Lowes have inside areas that can be rented/used?   ( oh how so insanely convenient if one did/does?)  Wonder if we could get them to sponsor a M & T ?

Our Home Depot has a fairly big covered and A/C area  as you enter.
( one side is all the carts)  the other side use to have a private Hot Dog Cart vender , now it is just opened and empty.  Not saying MY HOME DEPOT because we already had a M & T in my town , but wondering if somebody else has a similar situation.

Any zombie walks scheduled for July?

I was looking through the gallery and came across the July 28, 2007 M&T. It looked like in the pics it was inside. Would that place be an option?

Yeah, that was at Robert's Community center. That was a nice place, but we've grown so much, I don't think we'd all fit in a place like that.
I was thinking of asking our Monster Golf, but their prices are outrageous for renting one of the rooms.
I'll look around here in the New Port Richey area to see what I can come up with.

Some body call Universal! I know they need the business! They laid off my friend's son. Maybe we could get a behind the scenes look. I know they have AC. We might could use the back of the super heroes cafe???? And that little lake side Pub has those giant cold beers!!!! Smiley 4 of those and a back to the future ride is a real trip! I would love to get a inside look at the baby dino egg.

Brushe-  I called Universal when we were in the stages of trying to organize m&t 2009 #2.   They had told me that they wouldn't have a "halloween" speciality tour until Oct- however they would design maybe a custom tour of our group and it would be around $99.00 per person  for  about 3 hour of tour and included the full days admission.
Depending on the # of people.   About 12 -15 per tour....I was figuring with family members, we would at least have 2 tour groups.
They said they could do them at the same time- just different routing- and have us all finish approximately at the same time.
Commitment and payment was a problem.
Payment could not be individual -  had to be one lump sum - up front.
No one ( at the time) was able to make that kind of commitment ( in advance)  and payment ( who will fork out the $)  was going to be an undertaking.
Certainly it is an option for future .  But it would have to be a dedicated undertaking with plenty of interest.
As far as a room rental at Universal.  I didn't check into that, but would imagine a bit costly if they had one.
It was a good thought tho Brushe.     Especially the beer part !

Now  get  Back to scouting locations, everyone !   Grin

I am on my way to yard work , but wanted to post a few ideas on the table for some projects for the Make and Take.   Hope to spawn either some votes or maybe someone else to make suggestions:

Pumpkin Carving-  using Funikins, dremels etc.  ( maybe Halinar can lead?  ( bring your own shop vac   Grin)

Foggers  & Fog Chiller Build.  ( maybe fog  tubes )   or Fog blowing
Faces or prop how to?

Great Stuff builds....( ooops maybe not good inside build.  lol)

Hot Glue Builds  or Castings

Styrofoam heads (  Transforming heads to skull heads or other prop heads    Maybe  LEDs for Eyes workshop )

Hide a light tombstones ( Hamm is already working on this)

Cauldren  Making out of ???????-
advanced  people can do foggers or stirring mech.

FAN Motor Props_  using fans or ocilliating fans

Corpsing a Blucky  -
Maybe buying those small 3 foot blucky versions  at Oriental trader   (  I need practice on corsping...and don't want to mess up my new real Bucky(s) )     G, would be good at instructing this since she has a great tutorial on it already !

PVC Armitures

Duct Tape Dummys

( okay I know someone is going to ask me to volunteer to be the dummy.   Yeah.  Like I would let this group Duct tape me.    I know my mouth would be first.  Followed by my nostrils.   Then  the  Hot Glue Casting portion will beginning along with the skinning of corpse how to.      Wink  )

1/2 buried Coffin build-  would think Foam, but could be wood.

Making Fake Fire things

I haven't seen this on any of the forums or instructables....
But I am sure it is out there somewhere.
I haven't done it either so I don't know where I am going with this, But

DOOR BELL  COVERS .
( I am thinking I have an orginal idea here ???)      Either artistic   or things that will zap ya !   Hummmm.
Good idea CFQ.

Air Cannons ( Simple)
Motion Sensor rigging
FCG's

Anybody else have any ideas?

Well, we have just been building at our homes for the time being... neither of our 3 houses could fit a group of people trying to build stuff inside unfortunately.  I would love to build the black light ghost with the group... schedule is a bit tight in the near future but I would love to try to fit the make and take in.

I contacted Monster Golf in New Port Richey and they said for the amount of time we would need the room (6 hours) on a Saturday, they would charge us $450 because they can do 3 birthday parties in that time. And that's how much it would cost to give up a party room for that much time (minus 3 $25 certificates). So I think that's out. I'll keep checking.

What about HD or Lowes. If you are just looking for a place to do a build. I would think they would love to have a demo there. Just got to make sure you build it out of there stuff! lol There are lots of things that can be put together in a short time. After the build maybe dinner somewhere, like a buffet at a steak house!!!!   Tongue Then some music and cocktails by the water.   Cool Then we could hunt for real ghost, and everyone would think we had to many cocktails.  Grin But it sounds like fun! So I don't care what they think. SmileyWell I just got back from a concert so I am alive and wishing I had that CD. Dose that ever happen to you???

What concert did you go to Brushe?????
Yes, music makes me feel alive....

HaunterHeadQuarters:  didn't mean to throw you under the bus.   Grin
I just thought if you had a construction site: or  a/c warehouse where you did your builds,  .....maybe......   Wink    And yes, we would love an instructional on your UVghost.....but wouldn't expect for you to give away "trade secrets"  with your retail company being so new.  That was nice of you to say tho.!     And hopefully we can find a place and you will be able to fit it into your schedule.  We all are anxious to meet ya !

Yes, I think a Homo Dept or Lowes or something might go for something like this.   They would probably like to see a Mausoleum, Tombstones,  Monster Mud  or something like that, if they sponsored or donated a demo area.  To generate some sales.  Tombstones are about the only feasible build for a 1 day M & T.
I don't know if someone wants to check this out in their area to see
if their store have interest or capability.

Certainly its an idea for G -  when she starts thinking about the Hauntcon / M & T/ kits .  These stores (in the past)  have been very community minded and oriented.

I still say there is a libary or community center somewhere.  I am pretty sure I could come up with something here in NSB/Edgewater area i(f pressed to do so.)    But we have already hosted one this year, and I don't think everyone wants to travel back to my area so soon.

Edit:  forgot to respond to Maurrenpr post:
BTW:  how are you doing?????

Oh, I had called them (Monster Mini) about that on Tuesday, but with getting ready to paint and then the modem issues (hubby spent 2 HOURS on the phone with a tech guy! and he'sa tech guy!) Shocked Roll Eyes I hadn't posted it yet.
Way too rich for our blood!
Thanks for getting the word out Maureen!
If Coda wanted to do July I think our place would be in better straights for September.
I know that is 4 in a row for the East Coast, but I'll offer up to carpool if anyone would want to.

I would be a taker for a behind the scenes look at Universal Studios and would surely pay the $99.00 bucks per person. Very cool idea!
